Tensions between India and Pakistan

Due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, travelers should expect heightened security measures and potential disruptions, including flight delays and cancellations. Sign up for timely security alerts by enrolling the U.S. Department of State  (STEP) and confirm travel plans before proceeding to the airport. On-site, avoid large public gatherings and prominent tourist or religious sites. Monitor local news and remain vigilant for any signs of trouble or unrest.

Travel to Israel and Palestine

The U.S. Department of State (DOS) Travel Advisory for  remains a Level 3: Reconsider Travel. (Gaza has always been a Level 4: Do Not Travel). Security conditions continue to be unpredictable. Ground conditions could change at any time, resulting in the need to proceed to a bomb shelter, stay home / indoors or modify travel plans, sometimes at the last minute. Travelers must be resilient and resourceful.

Any Northwestern traveler(s), including faculty and staff, intent on pursuing trips to Israel or the West Bank must receive confirmation of coverage for a non-medical evacuation from Northwestern's assistance provider. See the Evacuationpage for more information. OGSS can assist with this process.  


Travel to Lebanon

U.S. DOS Travel Advisory for remains a Level 4: Do Not Travel due to crime, terrorism, civil unrest, kidnapping, unexploded landmines, and the risk of armed conflict.” All Northwestern-related travel to Lebanon should be postponed until further notice.
